100% Premium Whey Protein (Body Fortress)

This product is bodybuilding nutrition with value pricing in mind. Whey is a dairy-based source of amino acids, the building blocks of protein. Whey is the preferred protein source in sports and bodybuilding nutrition because it contains branched chain amino acids - made up of Leucine, Isoleucine and Valine - which are important for the maintenance of muscle tissue. Unlike some other incomplete protein sources, whey contains all of the essential amino acids that are required in the diet.

Body Fortress 100%* Premium Whey Protein contains no aspartame and comes in two flavors, Vanilla and Chocolate. Body Fortress 100%* Premium Whey Protein offers a price designed for health-conscious individuals on a budget - without skimping on quality! Mix it in a blender with your favorite fruit, or with milk or water in a shaker for a quick pick-me-up before and after those daily workouts.

i used this for a few eeeks down at school because one of my friends had some tubs from the local walmart and i didnt have the money to order more and i was pleasantly suprised. for how cheap this stuff is, and it is very cheap, the chocolate protein powder actually tasted very good, and while the ingredient profile may not be the best, it is certainly good enough for the everyday person lifting weights, and comparable to some other powders which cost much more. i would not suggest this to someone looking to compete or get serious into bodybuilding, powerlifting or anything similar, but as a substitute while waiting for an order, or as a cheap replacement this powder certainly does the job.

I will start this review saying I didn't expect much. Many, many naysayers all claim this is the basic general store brand of low quality protein. It is cheap, don't get me wrong.

But it works. A friend and I both went through a bottle and compared results/success. Both of our maxes (measured bench+squat) went up 15%+. The nutrition profile looks pretty simple and almost a little high on carbs/fats but in the end this formula works.

The mix was a little less then to be desired but with a good shaker, blender bottle, or mixer, this is no problem. The taste is basic, but I've had far, far worse.

As far as side effects, at the very beginning only experienced a bit of frequent bathroom usage, probably due to not tapering up.

I tried this Whey protein several times. Actually it was my first Whey protein, as many others. I personally think its a very decent protein with good ingredient profile, superior to many others and very CHEAP ( i think the cheapest judging by size and ingredients, at least at Walmart ).

Mixability: 8/10- It mixes well on a blender or on a shaker, but if you

I picked this up from Walmart the other day, because I was really low on my protein. For the value, this stuff cannot be beat. If I compare it to the other protein I was using, it's less than half the price! If you are lactose intolerant, I would not use this protein. I have a friend who is, and this stuff made him run to the bathroom. For all the rest of you out there, this is a great substitute if you cannot afford the premium proteins, or if you are running low and need to pick up some asap. I used the chocolate, and it tasted pretty good, although it had a chemical aftertaste. I suspect that a lot more people are going to buy this once they find out how cheap it is. Overall, 8/10

I picked up some of this from my local grocery store because I needed some protein quick and didn't have any other way to get it that day because I didn't want to pay so much at GNC. It was $12.99 for 2 pounds so the price was right. It is a combination of whey isolate and concentrate with some creatine thrown in, although I'm not sure how much. So if you have stomach issues with concentrate you may want to look elsewhere. It mixed fairly well, no problems in a blender or shaker, don't use a spoon. It tastes much better in milk than it did in water so keep that in mind as well. Overall not bad if you need a quick protein fix.

Who would've thought such a great protein would be found at Wal-Mart. I was busy shopping when I saw this for $14 and picked it up. The profile looked wonderful so I was expecting the taste/mixing ability to be wayy off. I was wrong! This stuff is no worse than any other protein on the market. It mixes great, taste's great, and has a pretty dang good profile!

Taste - I figured this stuff would taste absolutely horrible. Considering it's from Wal-Mart and only cost $14, I wasn't expecting much. But this stuff actually tasted pretty dang good. It's no Muscle Milk chocolate milk, but it definitely taste better than ON Gold Standard and Dymatize Elite Whey. I bought the Chocolate Flavor and highly recommend it!

Ease of Mixing - Considering it's mainly WC, I was expecting the mixing to be rather hard. It ended up being relatively easy actually. I threw 2 scoops in a shaker and it was fully disolved within 15-20 seconds of shaking.

Value - Honestly, how could you go wrong? The profile is good and it's extremely cheap! Rather than spending $40-45 on most protein powders, you can buy 2 tubs of this for under $30.

It was the day I never thought would come - the day Hell froze over. Months of planning and I had found myself in a severe protein shortage. It would seem that my days of snorting lines of fine Colombian whey isolate were over, but then I took a late night trip to the local Wal-Mart...

Taste - I'd heard many bad things about this stuff. "It's dat' dere' Wal-Mart protein - it surely sucks!" I took my chances anyway and took a sip. The taste is surprisingly clean, but very faint/bland. I greatly prefer this over those horrid protein powders with a rich and disgusting taste, but I it's just a matter of personal preference. I've tried only Vanilla, so I can't speak for the other(s).

Ease of Mixing - For a protein based on whey concentrates, this stuff mixes quite well. It's not quite as some pure isolates, but it's still pretty impressive for what it is.

Value - Not really much to complain about here. I wouldn't go purchasing this over the many finely-priced proteins available on the thing we've come to know and love as the Intraweb, but it actually is competitive price-wise and makes for a great last resort with the 2 lb. containers.

Other - The nutrition profile is pretty solid here for a budget protein. The availability of this stuff is, well, unmatched. If you're like many Americans, you might have a Wal-Mart gift card sitting neglected in your wallet - here's a good chance to use it.

Overall, this stuff isn't nearly as bad as 'they' say. The nutrient profile is solid, the price is solid, and the taste and ease of mixing are both pretty decent. If you're in a clutch, or you just feel like donating your money to that poor mom and pop operation known as Wal-Mart, then don't be afraid to try this.

EDIT: I managed to pick up the latest version of this for free, and to my dismay, I'd learned that a substantial amount of creatine monohydrate had been packed in there. I don't recall this being in the original product I tried, and this is an unwelcome change for me. This is something that must be considered before purchasing this product. It still tastes good, but solubility is hurt by the creatine.

If you have even considered bodybuilding then you already know that whey protein is a must, but there are a ton of brands to choose from. I choose Body Fortress Whey Protein because it's the cheapest, $12 for two pounds, compared to an average price of around $21. It's kinda hard to compare the effectiveness of the various protein powders, but the Body Fortress have been giving me the same gains as the other more expensive brands. The only negative is that there are better tasting alternatives( like Synthia 6) but for half the price it doesn't really matter, but it doesn't taste bad by any means.
