Smart gainer has been great for my son. His squat from last year to this was 280 then 430 now. He loves the taste of the Cinnniom vanllia. I dont like all the clolsteral. Otyher than that I highly recommened it for the price.

Given the great value that IDS Multi Pro Whey proved to be, I figured I would give this a shot for my bulk. At the same time, I purchased Universal Real Gains and ISS Gainer Matrix for comparison.

The nutrition profile of this is pretty good for the price. It has a 4:2:1 ratio of L-Leucine/Isoleucine/Valine and 3g of creatine malate per serving. The cholesterol is a little higher than similar gainers, but the actual effect of dietary cholesterol on blood serum cholesterol levels is questionable for most people. Those on any type of steroid cycle should take note of the cholesterol contained in this product. Like any cheaper weight gainer, this stuff is chock full of maltodextrin - making it more suitable for a dirty bulk.

I first tried the Chocolate Caramel version of this. It tasted good - much better than the ISS and Universal gainers. I later ended up purchasing the Strawberry Banana version which was, surprisingly, even better than the Chocolate Caramel. The main drawback of this gainer, was the ease of mixing. Most of the powder will dissolve quickly in water, but there are ALWAYS clumps leftover. I ended up just chugging the clumps down as quickly as I could, so that the effect of 'powder explosions' in my mouth were minimized.

On another note, the serving size of this is different than similar gainers. This requires two large scoops vs. 3-4 scoops of similar gainers. I found this to be a more suitable serving size.

I ended up gaining about 20 lbm in four months over my last dirty bulk. Most of my gains are due to the rest of my diet/exercise, but 4,000kcal/day is kind of a pain to make without throwing gainers like this in the mix.

I wouldn't hesitate to purchase this product again for a dirty bulk. IDS may have a bad rep in some circles, but this stuff sure beats the widely over-hyped Universal Real Gains. Don't expect any miracles from this, because in the end, it's just a fast and easy way of cramming in more calories and protein.
