Finding a really good protein bar can be tough - the tasty ones usually are loaded with sugar or don't have that much protein, while the healthier ones often taste terrible. Detour Lower Sugar seems to be the solution, with actual peanuts, great caramel taste and 30 grams of protein. That's the good news. The better news: 10 grams of fat including CLA, and only 4 grams of sugar. A very good choice if you can find them cheap.
Chocolate Chip Caramel
Detour bars are tough to beat, considering the blend of WPC, WPI, a bit of casein, CLA, taurine, leucine and some other goodies. With just five grams of sugar, it's hard to believe this doesn't taste like cardboard. However, this flavor is weaker than the caramel peanut, as there's not much caramel taste, and the chocolate is a bit weak. I do like the chips though, and a profile of 30g protein, 34g carbs and 9g fat is pretty solid.
Neapolitan
Detour has been promoting this flavor heavily on Facebook and I must say it is pretty good. It isn't unbelievably delicious, but it is certainly above the level of your average protein bar. The chocolate is the strongest flavor here, followed by strawberry and then a bit of vanilla. This has pretty much the same consistency of other Detour bars, not too chewy and overall pretty soft. The nutritional profile isn't bad, with 170 calories, 15 grams of protein, 16 grams of carbohydrates and 5 grams of fat. Just 3 grams of sugar but 13 grams of sugar alcohols, so watch out if you are sensitive to those. Overall, not a bad bar and one of the better flavors from Detour.
