GNC isn't usually my first choice, but they do offer some pretty attractive clearance prices at the end of the month. Such a price prompted me to pick up this Muscle Meal, which can be characterized as either a very lean weight gainer or a hefty MRP, as it has about double the calorie content of Syntha-6 and most other MRP shakes. Overall, I thought this was pretty good, with each three-scoop serving offering 50 grams of protein, 25 grams of carbohydrates and 5 grams of fat. Not overly carby for those who are watching carbohydrate intake and plenty of protein for everyone. The protein comes from several sources -- WPC, milk protein, and calcium caseinate -- so there is some extended-release element. Waxy maize is the primary source of carbohydrates, and each serving has just 3 grams of sugar and 5 grams of fiber. Muscle Meal also offers CLA and MCTs, along with flaxseed oil. Amino acids and a decent supply of vitamins and minerals round out the product. This is a pretty solid offering, particularly for GNC, and the taste is pretty rich and better than most of their protein powders.
