Icy Blue Razz

Amino acid products are all the rage, and it's not surprising that Cellucor got on board. This product is intended to be a bit more than just BCAAs, though, with a pretty extensive ingredient list. In addition to a leucine-heavy BCAA matrix, Alpha Amino also has citrulline, glutamine, tyrosine, taurine, coconut water, chia seed and a variety of other ingredients intended to promote endurance. And while those ingredients may be beneficial, Alpha Amino doesn't really provide hugely significant amounts of those ingredients; the marketing material, for example, suggests that Alpha Amino is a great source of omega-3 fatty acids, yet the label indicates the product is calorie-free, so the omega-3 content can't be that great. The array of non-BCAA ingredients is likely the justification for the premium pricing, which works out to about $2 per scoop at many stores (and Cellucor suggests using two scoops at a time). Considering the many alternatives in this category, that isn't really a price that makes me want to invest in Alpha Amino again unless it is on sale. The flavor is quite good, and this does mix up quite easily and smoothly. As far as performance goes, I can't really say the price is justified. Not a great increase in endurance or recovery, but better than nothing.
