Zero Ultra (Monster Energy)

Some people are impossible to please. As soon as they get what they thought they wanted they always want more. Our team riders and Monster Girls are no different... they've been dropping some hints lately. They've been asking us for a new Monster drink. A little less sweet, lighter-tasting, zero calories, but with a full load of our Monster energy blend. Sure, white is the new black. We went all out: Monster Energy Zero Ultra.

Keeping track of the plethora of Monster Energy drinks can be difficult, so it's not surprising to discover a new offering on the line literally every time you go to the store. The new Zero Ultra is a variation on the Absolutely Zero drink, which itself was a spin-off of the Lo-Carb Monster. Surprisingly, this massively derivative drink doesn't really bring anything new to the table. It has no calories and no sugar (neither of which are groundbreaking achievements), and it provides 140 mg of caffeine per 16 oz. can as opposed to the 160 mg that is standard with other flavors. It features a heavy dose of B-vitamins, taurine and a few other amino acids, but again, those are standard energy drink ingredients. One thing that is different is the taste - the can calls it a 'lighter' flavor but it comes off feeling watered down. Not particularly long-lasting, not a massive endurance boost and little improvement in focus. Basically, the best thing about this is the cool can design, but that doesn't really help you get the job done in the gym. Would not purchase again - particularly since one can costs at least double what you'd spend on a scoop of a pre-workout supplement.
