Virgin Coconut Oil (NOW) Coconut Oil is a traditional dietary staple of the people of Asia, Africa, and the Pacific Islands and has been used in Ayurvedic herbalism for thousands of years. NOW Organic Virgin Coconut Oil is unrefined cold-pressed oil, and does not utilize any solvents in the manufacturing process. Coconut oil contains no trans-fats and is a rich source of Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCT's), such as lauric acid (C-12) and caprylic acid (C-8). MCT's are less likely to be stored in the body as fat than most other fatty acids. Combined with essential fatty acids, it is a perfect addition to an overall healthy lipid program. Each serving may typically provide the following naturally occurring beneficial fatty acids: Lauric Acid 1.43 g, Myristic Acid 529 mg, Caprylic Acid 221 mg, Capric Acid 177 mg, Oleic Acid 177 mg and Linoleic Acid 44 mg. NOW also supplies Certified Organic, 100% Pure, Virgin Coconut Oil in liquid form.

Like them or hate them, some people believe in the power of MCTs, and I happen to be one of them. You can get away with buying significantly less expensive protein powder if you grab some coconut oil gelcaps, and NOW makes high-quality products for attractive prices, so this was pretty much a no-brainer. Hard to rate this based on these assessment tools, but NOW coconut oil had no taste, and I didn't experience any side effects, although I docked a point for those who may be allergic. The price was low, and I have no complaints, so I would say this was a win. Hard to judge the effects on body composition, so it may actually be more of a mental effect than a physical one.
