Balance Bars may not be a consideration for the most protein-obsessed among us, but they do have a pretty decent nutritional profile and tend to be priced at about half (or less) of what protein bars sell. And Balance Bars aren't too skimpy on the protein, with about 15 grams per 200 calorie bar. And unlike most protein bars, Balance Bars actually have a pretty decent amount of minerals and vitamins in case you're concerned with your overall health in addition to being jacked. As the name suggests, the bars are set up to provide 40 percent of calories from carbohydrates and 30 percent each from protein and fat. As a result, you may find this to be a good pre-workout snack, though it is really fine any time throughout the day. Unfortunately, these bars aren't very high in fiber (about two grams per bar) and have about as much sugar as they have protein, though they claim to be low-glycemic, for what that's worth.

The flavors I've enjoyed most so far are the Lemon Meringue Crunch and Chocolate Mint Cookie Crunch, as they taste really good, pretty dessert like. They are a bit dry but definitely better than the average protein bar.
